Linda Aldoory, (Ph.D., Syracuse University, 1998) is associate professor in communication, affiliate faculty of women’s studies, and founding director of the Center for Risk Communication Research. During her time as CRCR Director, Aldoory competitively won a JIFSAN grant; was an original, successful grant developer who created START; and secured two cooperative agreements from the FDA to engage in risk communication research that explored how audiences perceived terrorism and food safety messages. Aldoory’s area of expertise is her multi-methodological analyses of how adolescents and women perceive health campaigns and use campaign messages in their everyday lives. Her articles are published in the top communication journals, such as Health Communication, Journal of Communication, and Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly. Aldoory is also a communication research consultant for various government agencies and NGOs, including the CDC, USDA, and DHS.
