Ms. Telfer graduated from Indiana University and earned a Masters degree in International Relations at Syracuse University’s top ranked Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.  She joined CDC in August 2000 and since June 2004, has served as Associate Director for Communication Science for the National Center for Environmental Health/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.  Ms. Telfer has logged two decades of management experience in public relations and marketing communications, including extensive experience in strategic communications planning, crisis management, media relations and program development and implementation.  CDC’s NCEH strives to promote health and quality of life by preventing or controlling those diseases or deaths that result from interactions between people and their environment.  ATSDR, a separately chartered federal public health agency, assesses health effects related to hazardous substances and provides education and training concerning hazardous substances.
